Enrollment Resources and Information
The Franklin Public School District is committed to proactively implementing supportive enrollment policies and practices that create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students regardless of their parents’ actual or perceived immigration status.
The district is in full compliance and supports Chapter 622 of the Acts of 1971 which prohibits discrimination in public school admissions and programs. The law reads as follows:
“No child shall be excluded from or discriminated against in admission to a public school of any town, or in obtaining the advantages, privileges and course of study of such public school on account of race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, genetic information, disability, pregnancy or a related condition, veteran status, age, or homelessness.”
An English Language Learner and his/her parent must be afforded every possible opportunity for understanding the registration process in each district/school.
● If the parent and child cannot communicate effectively in English, the principal will seek assistance from a translator. This is often a relative or neighbor of the parent. If no English speaker accompanies the parent and child to the school, a translator will be provided. The district has contracted several vendors for this purpose; one vendor provides phone-in interpreter support for the district.
