Getting Started/College Search

With over 4,000 colleges and universities across the country (in addition to options beyond the U.S.), identifying schools that meet characteristics that are important to each individual is critical. Completing a college search using a trusted and reliable resource is an important first step. While there are options available, we encourage the use of Naviance because the additional data it provides can help students identify schools where their academic profile may be a good fit.

Students receive a Naviance account during their freshman year of high school. They have access to this account throughout their time at FHS. Naviance surveys like the Career Interest Profiler (to be completed during sophomore year) can be used to introduce careers and areas of study that may be a good fit. Students also have the ability to use outside resources like the College Board College Search, Career Finder, and the Common App “Your path to college” to assist in the college search process.
